We have made it to Canon City, Colorado, and are soon going to climb into the Rockies! They are so beautiful, it is mind blowing. As we are climbing from vast plains, you can see for miles. We got up to nearly 2000m earlier, and the temperature has certainly cooled. Right now a storm is brewing, so the three of us will shelter in the library to let it pass.
Laura, James and I have left the Bike the US for MS group behind as they head West and we head North. It was a little sad to say goodbye to most of them, and I wish them all luck with their journey to San Francisco. It is a great cause they cycle for and yesterday I was lucky enough to share in a service project with them. We all went to the house of a lady with MS in Pueblo and helped clear her yard and do some other errands for her. Although she had had a stroke and suffered with MS, she ran a charity helping disadvantaged youths get scholarships for university here.
Last night we sat with the founder of the ride (who has done my route) and he advised us on travelling in Yellowstone and the Tetons - it sounds awe inspiring and I cannot wait to be there in about 10 days! From here on in, I am hoping the scenery will distract us from the hard climbs!
Managed to catch a bit of the Federer game and also see that Murray is in the final with him. I think we will make the effort on Sunday to watch it!
By the way, James has a great blog, so check it out (http://www.tourdeamerica2012.com/). He has a SPOT GPS, so you can track my exact route while I am with him.
